Industrial Powerhouse from Konya Unveils 460-Horsepower Domestic Engine

Turkey’s drive toward national production continues to gather momentum. The latest milestone comes from Konya-based industrial giant TÜMOSAN, which has successfully developed a fully domestic 460-horsepower marine engine. The new power unit, expected to attract significant interest, was showcased at the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) held at the Istanbul Expo Center.

With an annual capacity of producing 75,000 engines and 54,000 tractors, TÜMOSAN stands among the country’s largest industrial manufacturers. Traditionally known for its strong presence in the agricultural sector, the company is now extending its expertise into the defense industry.

A New Era for “Blue Homeland”: The 460 HP MARINE Engine

The centerpiece of TÜMOSAN’s display was the TMSN460 MARINE engine, which drew considerable attention at the fair. Key highlights include:

  • High Power Output: Designed and engineered entirely in Turkey, the engine delivers 460 horsepower.

  • Ready for Deployment: All qualification tests have been successfully completed, clearing the way for mass production.

  • Supporting Unmanned Naval Systems: The engine has already been integrated into the ULAK Armed Unmanned Surface Vessel (SIDA), produced by ARES Shipyard.

  • Expanding Partnerships: Talks are ongoing with the Turkish Coast Guard Command and other stakeholders, with the goal of replacing imported engines in the country’s defense inventory.

PUSAT Armored Vehicle: Fully Domestic Powertrain

TÜMOSAN also introduced the latest version of its PUSAT tactical wheeled armored vehicle, equipped with a completely domestic powertrain, including engine, transmission, and drivetrain systems. Officials noted that an export-oriented version is under development, further demonstrating the company’s ability to deliver complete power solutions beyond engines alone.

Investing in the Future: Hydrogen Fuel Cell Program

In addition to its current projects, TÜMOSAN highlighted its work on next-generation energy technologies. In cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and TENMAK, the company is developing a 10-kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell system. The program is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with serial production slated to follow.
