New Yorkers have shaken up American politics by electing Zohran Mamdani, a young Muslim, as mayor.
The 34-year-old Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda to an Indian family and grew up in New York from the age of seven. He has become New York's first Muslim and South Asian mayor.
