Trinidad and Tobago's achievements at World Travel Market 2014
Trinidad and Tobago Travel App Scores at WTM 2014:
Trinidad and Tobago took its destination marketing to the next level with the soft launch of The Travel App, a joint initiative between the TDC and the app's developers Smart Channel.
The app, although designed primarily for Samsung devices, can be downloaded on to smart phones and tablets from the Google and Apple stores and comes preloaded on all Samsung Smart TVs. The Travel App presents an opportunity for destination Trinidad and Tobago and its stakeholders to promote new offers, feature hotels and sites and also update destination information.
Since going live during the second week in October, Trinidad and Tobago can boast of having 11, 000 unique views in the three week period. Stakeholders were impressed with the application and all agreed that it would be a useful marketing tool for the industry.
Sporting Heroes Help to Promote Destination Trinidad and Tobago:
Trinidad and Tobago's sporting heroes took centre stage at the World Travel Market, London in the likes of Dwight Yorke and Brian Lara, both of whom were on hand to promote our dual destination to both the travel trade and visitors looking for their next warm weather destination.
Brian Lara as a Brand Ambassador received much needed coverage via BBC, Sky Sports and other sporting and travel focused media organisations and both sports legends participated in a meet and greet with star struck fans in the Trinidad and Tobago stand.
New Book on Trinidad and Tobago to be launched:
Trinidad and Tobago has been described as unique, beautiful and diverse, however, Ivor Skinner has now added another adjective to the growing list with his new book Enchanting Trinidad and Tobago.
The author describes the destination as being 'packed with all kinds of visitors, whether Eco tourists, party goers, history buff, activity seeker or beach lover'. The book provides a colourful introduction in words and photographs to the exciting destination and the names of the chapters ring true to the very nature of the destination with titles such as 'The plains are alive...' and 'Old world meets new'.
The book will be distributed through Nigel R. Khan Booksellers and TDC's Chief Executive Officer Mr. Keith Chin was presented with a copy by the publishers.
Trinidad and Tobago's Culture on Show at WTM 2014:
WTM 2014 would not be complete without an injection of bachannal into what can be a sterile environment.
Although the five o' clock time slot usually ushers in live entertainment on a few stands, Trinidad and Tobago can usually boast of having one of the most energetic and culturally rich displays through both traditional dance and music.
The atmosphere on the stand was punctuated by the sweet sounds of steel pan, satirical soca and calypso and dancing damsels who defied the limits of their bodies through limbo dancing.
As usual, onlookers' appetites for an authentic cultural experience were more than satisfied as they got a small taste of what both islands have to offer
